Driven Edmonton Autoshow 2019

After the massive 780Tuners event last month, we were guided to check out this year's Driven event at MacEwan University.

"Driven is Canada’s Aftermarket Autoshow touring 7 major centres coast to coast, where the hottest regional and national show cars compete with one another. Driven aims to gather the best of local and national car enthusiasts and automotive businesses together."

This was MOONRCKT's first attendance, and what an eye-opener of an event it was! Not only was this our first Driven event, but it was also our first underground event. It definitely had a Fast and Furious-esque feeling to it.

This year, the Driven organizers brought in RWB Legend Akira Nakai-San. RWB standing for RAUH-Welt BEGRIFF (meaning “rough world”), RWB is a Porsche tuner located in Japan. They combine Japanese and Euro tuning elements, creating the distinct RWB style for the Porsche chassis. The kit is approximately CAD$30,000 and can only be installed by the one-and-only Nakai-san himself. It's estimated that there are at least 80 RWB Porsches in the world, and each customer is limited to one.

It was super special to see Nakai-San building another one-of-a-kind 911 right before our very eyes, in an Edmonton underground garage no less!

This show was a sensory overload of music, vendors, dance, people, and the best motored metal we have seen in one place.

There were so many entrants with cars that were almost unrecognizable, from the exotics of Italy and Germany to the over-the-top, dropped down crazy from Japan. Even our man, Jody Hawkins, with his one-of-a-kind Ruckus was in attendance, taking home the Judges’ Choice award!
