What are the engines that made the machines they were placed in—legendary?

Cars that were the stars on the big screen and adorned the bedroom walls of young car lovers around the world, powered by motors that were legendary for their incredible sound, endless modification abilities, stratospheric rev ranges, and of course, power and torque output.
Carbureted or fuel-injected. Chevy, Ford, Mopar, Porsche, Ferrari, or Honda. USA, Japan, or Germany. There are so many greats with their glorious howls, quirky features, and of course, power and performance, which is one important prerequisite here!
We’re well aware that we can’t possibly feature them all, but we’ll start with 20 different contenders we believe to be among the greatest of greats and kings of their time.
